What type of visit?

  • A general farm tour on foot or on a suitable trailer.
  • A whole day or half a day.
  • Seasonal visits – the most popular time with schools is from March to July.
  • Workshops or specific activities such as tasting foods from your farm, cooking with seasonal fruit and vegetables or studying wildlife. Think what will make visits to your farm different from competing attractions
  • A themed event centred on particular farm activities for example lambing days, soft fruit picking, apple days, harvest thanksgiving.
  • Visits aimed at specific age groups. Primary schools find visits easier to organise than secondary schools as their classes usually have the same teacher for the whole day. The primary curriculum is divided into Early Years Foundation Stage (reception class) aged 4-5, Key Stage 1 (infants) Years 1 & 2 aged 5-7, and Key Stage 2 (juniors) Years 3,4,5 & 6 aged 7-11.
