Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme - or CEVAS as it is better known - is the long-established training scheme for farmers and countryside educators wishing to host school visits. Many farmers will be familiar with the accreditation and will have undergone training in the past.

The scheme continues to go from strength to strength with 2022-2023 seeing 100s of farmers earn their accreditation to deliver safe, high-quality farm visits.

To those who might be considering welcoming school parties or who need some support in improving the offer they already make. Courses are offered in-person and online and delivered as Education focused or Therapeutic focused.

A recent development, has been CEVAS Plus. This is a one day in-person course (or 3 online sessions), for those who undertook CEVAs training over two years ago. The course will

  • update farmers on changes to the school curriculum in recent years;
  • look at current health and safety measures to make sure farmers are familiar with the Industry Code of Practice
  • help to make sure farmer can quality assure their visits
  • investigate how social media can improve marketing
  • see what resources are available to help schools before, during and after visits
  • provide the opportunity to network with other farmers and learn from their good practice

CEVAS Plus builds on the CEVAS Accreditation and is awarded a level 3 Open College Network Accreditation (CEVAS being level 2).
