September 2018 welcomes the launch of level 2 Agriculture back at Merrist Wood. The Agricultural landscape within the UK is constantly evolving and our programme offer will reflect this and complement existing FE provision.
Employability and practical skills will underpin knowledge of animal husbandry and countryside management issues. In terms of our livestock, the students will play a significant role in managing our sheep flock consisting of rare breeds and commercial animals, develop our free range pork enterprise with our large black and Oxford sandy and black pigs and set up breeding flocks of poultry listed by the rare breed survival trust.
Agriculture students will make full use of the campus to provide a holistic approach to habitat management using livestock and developing sustainable skills that support biodiversity and progression to L3 that will be launched 2019/20.
