Farming Fortnight is LEAF’s annual two-week initiative that brings the world of farming and food production into classrooms across the UK. Running from 2–13 June 2025, this event offers schools, teachers and educators a comprehensive, curriculum-linked programme to engage students with the origins of their food, sustainable farming practices, and the vital role agriculture plays in our daily lives.

What is Farming Fortnight?

Farming Fortnight is a nationwide educational campaign designed to inspire and inform young people about the journey of food from farm to fork. Throughout the fortnight, students explore various aspects of farming, sustainability, and the environment, through a wide range of free resources.

Farming Fortnight provides a wealth of free, downloadable resources to support teachers in delivering engaging lessons focused on sustainable farming. Topics include soil, water, biodiversity, livestock, crop health and agroforestry. These materials are designed to be adaptable to various ages and learning styles and can be integrated into different subjects. Resources include lesson and activity ideas, discussion prompts and case studies, all aligned with the national curriculum.

NEW for 2025

Farmer Videos: We’ve created three engaging new farmer videos all sharing their experiences and passion for farming with nature and great for sparking discussions!

Live Q&A: Join us for a live Q&A session on 5th June from 10:30 to 11:00am, offering students a unique opportunity to engage directly famers. This interactive session will bring farming to life and help deepen understanding of sustainable agriculture.

Participation in Farming Fortnight is free for all schools and educators. To access the resources and register your school, visit Countryside Classroom. Join us in celebrating the vital connection between farming, food, and the environment!
