Wynnstay Group, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of agricultural products and services, is turning to LEAF to help support its net zero ambitions.
Speaking on the announcement, Wynnstay’s Chief Executive, Gareth Davies said:
"Environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) and sustainability form a key pillar for the Group strategy, with our mission being to help the farmer to feed the UK in a more sustainable way. We see a significant role for Wynnstay in supporting farmers with products and services to help drive sustainability and greater efficiencies. Wynnstay are working towards becoming a carbon net zero business and have already make significant advances including the incorporation of biofuel in our HGV fleet, driving efficiencies in our mills and depots to reduce emissions, exploring on-site renewable energy generation, using certified sustainable soya and utilising recycled plastic packaging for all own brand animal feed.”
Lewis Davies, Group Environmental and Sustainability Manager said:
“Joining LEAF is an important part of the investments we are making in widening the Group’s knowledge base, supporting our advisory teams with the most up to the minute sustainable farming expertise and developing innovative products and services. LEAF is very much a grass-roots organisation, working with farmers to drive more climate smart solutions. It will also help ensure that we are playing our part to benefit both the local communities in which we live and work and society more widely.”
Clare Mike, LEAF’s Director of Business Development added:
“We are delighted to be working alongside Wynnstay, a hugely respected supplier to a great many of our farmer members, with a commitment to supporting the needs of British farmers in the most environmental and sustainable way possible. We are very much looking forward to playing a role in helping to achieve these goals.”
In November 2020, LEAF laid out ambitious plans to transform global farming and food systems through positive action for the climate, nature, the economy and society, within its new 10-year strategy. In addition, the organisation, which is celebrating its landmark 30th anniversary, recently unveiled an extensive, year-long programme of activities, events and initiatives will highlight LEAF’s achievements, whilst paying tribute to the many people and organisations it has worked with and setting out its future vision.
